Director of New Product Development and Production
Who we seek:
We are seeking an individual to join the management team and serve as Director of New Product Development and Production. This role requires a person with creative spark who thinks like an entrepreneur and is comfortable in a small (presently we have 18 people) and unstructured environment. This individual must be quite resourceful as we’ll rely upon his/her talents to find solutions to problems that are sometimes out of your direct area of expertise. This challenging position will require an above average time commitment in the beginning but will provide commensurate rewards as our products progress through the launch process.
The qualified candidate will possess strong organizational skills, be highly analytic, and be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously. As a small firm the candidate will both have the ability to express his/her talent in a variety of disciplines and also be vested with like responsibilities covering a range of competencies. Some working knowledge of circuit design, materials, mechanical design and principles of physics related to stress, shear, and strain are imperative. Travel, sometimes international, is required. Multiple languages are a plus.
Major Responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing research, selection and development of components and systems.
- Coordinate integration of software and hardware.
- Substantially assist in the launching and feature development of new products.
- Define specifications for all subcontracted manufacturing performed.
- Play an instrumental role in specifying both the user interface as well as the functionality and feature dimensions of our software to our developers.
- Implementation of QC protocols for all aspects of production.
- Implementation of project management tools like Pert or WBS.
- Defining, refining and maintaining our customer technical support protocol.
Requirements:
- 2-3 years of involvement in product development, prototyping and design and/or product launch experience.
- A MS or higher in Electrical Engineering.
- A strong working knowledge of circuit board design, analog to digital conversion, firmware coding, signal processing.
- Some Knowledge and skills in software coding.
- Some knowledge of flex circuit characteristics, materials properities, mechanical design and principles of physics related to stress, shear, and strain.
- Demonstrated record of resourcefulness and creativity. Both of which are of paramount importance in this role.
Compensation and Benefits:
- The position offers a competitive base salary, performance based bonus, paid vacation, 401K, and medical insurance. Relocation is not available for this position.
