Quickly Identify and Resolve Surface Contact Stress Problems

Our Fuji Prescale® Film is a highly accurate, affordable and easy to use sensor that reveals distribution and magnitude of pressure between any two contacting, mating or impacting surfaces. Fuji Prescale Film has many effective applications including use in analyzing bolted joint and gasketed interfaces, composite layups, heat sealers and in lamination presses. It can also be used as an impact force sensor, seat pressure sensor, as a strain gauge or even as nip impression paper.

Fuji Prescale® Film is a Mylar-based film that contains a layer of tiny microcapsules. Force exerted on the sensor causes the microcapsules to rupture, producing via color change an instantaneous and permanent high resolution topographical image of pressure variation across the contact area. Simply place the Fuji Prescale® Film sensor between any two surfaces, apply force, remove it, and immediately it reveals a profile of interfacial pressure distribution. Similar in concept to Litmus paper, Fuji Prescale® Film’s color change is also proportionally quantifiable to the amount of force applied. The film is extremely thin (4 to 8 mils) which enables it to conform to curved surfaces and is also ideal for invasive intolerant environments and tight spaces not accessible to conventional electronic transducers.

Benefits of Using Fujifilm Prescale® Sensor Film

  • Reveals parallelism
  • Reveal gaps, flaws and unevenness
  • Indicates consistent compressive force across interfacing surfaces
  • Determines precisely how force is distributed at your contacting surfaces
  • Quantifies exactly how much force is occurring
