Electrical/Materials Engineer

We are a small rapidly growing entrepreneurial engineering/high-technology company located in Madison, NJ seeking an Electrical or Materials Engineer for an immediate opening. We are a world leader in the niche market of tactile surface sensors – sensors that measure physical contact between two objects. This job will expose the candidate to a myriad of industries and applications in the engineering world ranging from complex aerospace projects to medical device products.
The ideal candidate for this position is articulate, proactive, and detail-oriented. He/she should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Candidate must live within commuting distance of our headquarters in Madison, NJ. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to, and grow, in a dynamic entrepreneurial organization. Major Responsibilities will include:
- Designing, building and testing circuitry that captures, clarifies and interprets signals generated from our surface pressure mapping sensors
- Development, assembly, testing and troubleshooting of matrix arrays of our sensors
Requirements:
- Highly resourceful and independent minded and possess the ability to execute projects often with minimal guidance
- Very strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Experience with curve-fitting and image analysis are highly desired
- Knowledge of capacitive and resistive sensor fundamentals and strain gauges
- Experience or strong knowledge of image analysis and RF technology highly beneficial
- Experience with digital oscilloscopes and signal generators, breadboard design and buildup, and circuit design software
- Skills in C++ and/or Visual Basic are highly relevant
- Knowledge of Matlab and Labview are desirable
- Familiarity with Spice, CPLD (or FPGA), and Microcontroller programming is necessary
Educational requirements:
- PHD (completed or Underway) in electrical or materials engineering (or Masters degree at a minimum)
